Materials Development Engineer R&D
Do you have experience in using equipment for analysis and characterization of materials? Do you like to interact with many different people and work with product development? If yes, and you like material science, especially in the area of steel, cemented carbide and PCD – this may be a job for you!
The R&D Materials Development team is responsible for research and development of materials for our products, mainly made of steel and cemented carbide. The team collaborates closely with other R&D teams, Production, Quality, Purchasing and Marketing. The team in Fagersta consists of 13 engineers and 6 technicians. Global collaboration occurs with other Epiroc units, other companies, institutes and Universities. Now we are searching for a new member to join this competence team in Fagersta, Sweden.

Your mission
To contribute to efficient and sustainable products for the company. You will play an important role, using your knowledge and a high focus will be on the product development. The team interacts closely with other functions and departments, both within Epiroc and externally. You may also act as supervisor from the company’s side in collaborations with universities and institutes.

About the job
In this position, you contribute with your expertise in CAD and CAM to our cross-organization operational developments. You discover, develop and evaluate new CAD/CAM methods, enhancements to existing methods and translate research discoveries into usable procedures. Furthermore, you appraise new methods to determine their potential for addressing customer needs and to achieve goals in revenue growth and market share. With all this in mind, you support and work alongside your colleagues in professional growth, to increase their own capabilities and take decisions within a defined time frame.
This position is based in either Norrköping, Arboga or Fagersta, Sweden, and some international travel is required.

Your profile
We’re looking for someone with a bachelor or master’s degree in technical engineering or another relevant field, together with extensive experience in a similar role as this one. You have proven skills in CAD (NX or other software) and demonstrate solid knowledge of design and the way of working, processes, theories, methods and their respective strengths, weaknesses and suitable solutions. Beneficial for this position is knowledge in CAM, Rulestream, programming and data handling. Since we operate in a global environment, you have proven efficiency in English, both in written and verbal form.
You’re structured and independent, with a problem-solving approach in your ways of working. You thrive in an environment that encourages cooperation, innovation, and look for multiple perspectives when working with others. With great communication skills you easily build trusting relationships based on honesty and trust.
